Safari Overview – 5 Day Uganda and Rwanda
This is your best opportunity to see the mountain gorillas twice in Uganda and Rwanda. The 5 day Uganda Rwanda gorilla tour goes to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. If interested, we can add gorilla tracking in Virunga National park in DR Congo, Mgahinga National park in Uganda and Low Land gorilla tracking in Kahuzi Biega National Park as well as Mt. Nyiragongo and Gahinga hiking.
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda – Kigali Airport
Depending on the arrival time in the land of a thousand hills, you will be welcomed by a professional tour guide and take a tour around Kigali city, visit genocide memorials, local art and craft shops as well as local markets and interact with the local people. Later proceed to Volcanoes national park to the north of Ruhengeri through a striking terraced hillsides that shows much of Rwanda landscape, check-in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
This is your day for the first gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National park. Breakfast and assemble at the park head qaurters for a briefing and assignment to a gorilla group in your ability to track. The hike in search for the mountain gorillas immerses you into the strange intimacy of the rain-forest plus a live call of colorful birds, the rare golden monkeys, as well as forest Elephants and Buffaloes. Have lunch at the lodge and later relax up at the lodge from the tiresome and exciting activity, and if interested, we can take an evening walk around Musanze town and local markets, or visit Iby’Iwacu cultural village.
Day 3: Cross to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National park
Breakfast and your lodge and cross to Uganda through Cyanika boarder / Kisoro with enroute visit to the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. The drive can take 3-5 hours depending to which gorilla group / sector / Lodge booked.

Day 4: Second Gorilla Trek in Uganda
We take our second gorilla trek today in southern Bwindi National park or Mgahinga National park in South western Uganda. Bwindi inhabits over 440 mountain gorillas, which is half of the world’s remaining total population. Here, we have over 14 habituated gorilla families. However, Bwindi trek is more strenuous compared to Rwanda. More easier treks are available in Mgahinga National park for gorillas and rare golden monkeys.
Retire for lunch and embark on a picnic drive to Kabale town (1-2 hours) on the shores of the beautiful lava dammed lake of wonders; Lake Bunyonyi, dinner and overnight at;

Day 5: Canoe Ride, Drive back to Kigali
This is our last day in Uganda, and we are crossing back to Rwanda. If you require visa, the East Africa Tourist Visa is recommended in this situation because, it allows you multiple entry into Uganda and Rwanda. Enjoy a canoe ride and explore different islands of this beautiful lake before driving back to Kigali through Katuna boarder.
